Generally speaking, seeing a napkin in public is a shocker – you always wish you could remove that memory right away. But one German woman is changing that by turning feminine care items into feminist art.

Elone, from Karlsruhe, was inspired by a Tweet that got her thinking about feminism and women’s rights. Using pads as her medium, she started to post messages all over her hometown focusing on women’s rights.

Adhered to each pad is a message, like “rapists rape people, not outfits” and “imagine if men were as disgusted with rape as they are with periods.”

Recently, she uploaded photos to her Tumblr account – the response has been overwhelmingly positive.

It appears that women from all over the developed world have seen her work and hope to replicate her efforts in their hometowns.

But not everyone is a fan. She has also received negative feedback of the project. Putting her potentially misguided aspects aside, her project is bringing awareness to important issues.

She focuses heavily on sexual assault. Translation: My name is not “Baby.”
