“It’s NEVER OK”
For those of you who just though he was some geeky guy off Star Trek, could I suggest you think again. I saw this video shared on Youtube a while back and recently watched it again. It is rare that a video actually brings a tear to my eye but this one did.
In the vid, Stewart is at a Star Trek convention answering questions on all things Treky when one of the audience asks him about what he does other than acting. His response is very moving. He goes on to discuss his experiences growing up and how his mother was regularly abused by his father. He used to blame his father but has recently found out his father suffered from ‘shell shock’ after the war. This is now better known as post traumatic stress disorder. What he talks about really makes a lot of sense and it is interesting to hear he does have some empathy for his father despite his behaviour.
If you are not moved by this video then I worry about you. The girl asking the question has a Tumblr blog and she wrote about her experience here
